LNchan, I hope that you are feeling better. It seems that everyone I know as of late has caught something quite unpleasant. I think I have jinxed all my family and friends! Cosplay musings, I finished attaching the vinyl black straps to my Rikku top along with my silver buckles for the accents. I jokingly told Kichan last night that I felt more like a "hentai centerfold" the more the costume is finished. ::laughs:: But seriously, I was getting tired of the costume for a while, but seeing the top finished and knowing I'm almost 70% done, I'm beginning to really dig the outfit again! Guess that's what happens from time to time with cosplay ne? You're really into something in the beginning and then it sorta fizzles only to snap back up for you! I can't wait to get my "In Progress" pictures done pretty soon. I'm hoping one of my family members has some film in their cameras! ::smiles::

LotR news for today, I was searching LotR costume sites and realized that Aragorn is a largely uncosplayed character! This really suprised me, being he is such a favorite character and his outfits seem to be relatively simple. I think this stems from the fact that when people normally think of Aragorn, they think of his "Strider" outfit. I will be the first one to admit that the costume is NOT an easy design and all the leatherworking would be killer on the hands! But I myself would like to see people do Aragorn in his "elven" styled clothes when he speaks to Arwen in the Hall of Narsil. I'm a sucker for embroidery, I can't help it! If any of you minnasan know of anyone who's done a cosplay of Aragorn or any of the characters that's REALLY impressive, let me know! I'd like to see what's currently being done!

I just finished making jello for my mum. She came down with this AWFUL 24 hour stomach virus that results in a lot of unpleasant moments. Her coworker caught it and unfortunately gave it to her, so I've been mum for the day. I really haven't minded, Pop and I went to Spearfish to run errands and do my dress fitting for my friend's wedding, then we had lunch. He's currently taking apart a shelf to fix and Mum is actually getting color back in her face and has been able to keep soup, a popsicle and some crackers down, so I figure that's a plus! Now, my pop and I are just praying we're not the next to get it, Oi!!!! ::gives a weak smile::

Cosplay musings, I just put the red and yellow stripes around my gray V-neck sweater for my Harry Potter costume! The only thing I'm missing now are the patches for my house and the whole outfit will be done. Kinda' strange when you end up doing impromptu costumes like this, ne? I'm hoping to get my Rikku top done by tonight or tomorrow. I admit, I'm getting a bit bored with the outfit, but it's turning out really cute even though! I just have to do the headband, make the belt with her bags, find a close semblance of her white and blue boots and finish styling the wig! The great thing for me is that I know I'll be done with ALL the costumes long before NDK rolls around so I can work on some other seamstress things that need to be done! I love making costumes to the extreme, but I also like making clothes for myself, which is my plan for the winter, since I'm SICK of trying to find clothing that fits!

Anime musings, I discovered a rather unusual anime by accident called "Argento Soma." It's sorta' retelling of the classic Frankenstein story with a very big Sci-Fi twist. It also seemed like an Evangelion rip-off, but it's much more messed up than that. Plus, the lead that becomes the "Frankenstein" like character is covered in scars and was created to be a cross between an angel and a fairy. Naturally, I was instantly in love! ::laughs:: What do I have with scars? Anyhoo, I haven't seen any of it yet, but it really looks good, the animation and character designs are VERY distinctive, I've not seen any anime use this particular look for characters. Perhaps I'll pick it up soon, ne?

LotR news for today, I walked by an Oscar preview TV Guide and was really ticked that not ONE! picture of TTT was featured on the front! Sheesh, I know it didn't get the nominations that FotR did, but still it was nominated for Best Picture this year! I hope RotK wipes the floor at the Oscars next year, that will show them. On another point in news, I visited the wonderful JOMMYWORKS again and if you have the addie, she's started doing some of her work/links in English! Her site is wonderful and easy to navigate, so if you're a massive Boromir fan and know how to get to her site, go and visit again! She's been doing a TON of gorgeous CGs again!

Well, minnasan, life has a funny way of throwing curve balls. K, Ker and I went out for Ker's birthday this evening and we enjoyed a nice dinner. We then went to do a bit of light shopping and when I came out of the store, one of my old college mates stopped me on the road to tell me that my theatre director/mentor had just suffered a heart attack earlier that day. To say the least, I was very stunned being that my director has steel in his veins. Before I went into direct shock, she told me that everything was okay, and that the emergency angioplast the ER docs had done was a success! ::gives a huge relieved smile:: I was also sent an e-mail by another friend letting me know that my director would be returning home on Tuesday. I'd like to say now minnasan that I am grateful for every blessing I have every day. But today was a particular reminder of how fragile life is, and how much we need to treasure it. I am so blessed and I hope that you will all take a moment today, tomorrow or some time this week and truly count your blessings!...

With that relieving news out of the way, I do have a small cosplay update. I am pleased to say that the scarlet stripes on my HP tie are drying nicely. I'll just have to put the red and yellow stripes on my V-neck sweater and add the two Gryffindorf patches and the whole costume will be completed! ::smiles:: Hai, I know the robe isn't exactly the Hogwart's kind, but I was never intending to actually make an HP costume, it just sorta happened! But it'll be nice to have one for the Spring photoshoot, ne? My Rikku costume is coming along slowly, I just haven't had the real enthusiasm I had for making it when I started! I'm sure that when I get back to making it, I'll be much more enthused again. I'm looking forward to making Sissy's jacket though, the pattern is simple and I get to use patches on the outfit, which is always a plus!

I thought the characters looked pretty cool, so I started visiting some Japanese sites and recently saw that the English translation of "Shonen Jump" is actually featuring Naruto. LotR news for today, the Oscars are sneaking upon us, and we all know that TTT is going to get screwed out of everything. ::sighs:: But in least we'll have the information on what will be the on the new DVD coming up! Plus, with the summer movie months moving on in, the RotK snippets will be starting to appear! I confess, I think the only reason that I go to summer movies is just to see the LotR previews. I don't know what I'm going to do when RotK is done! Guess my LotR news for the day will be going to be a monthly thing, ne? ::quirky smile:: Either that, or I'll convert to book chatting!...
